reason number 398274 why i love prince harry

yesterday prince harry posted t-mobile's latest commercial spoofing the royal wedding, telling his friends that it gave them a glimpse of what to expect today.  after viewing the video, you'll see why he is quite the jokester.  i am a little disappointed now that this didn't happen...that would be a new generation of the monarchy for sure.

ps. who knew harry had facebook??

LIVE FROM THE RED CARPET! - it's the royal wedding!

good morning! i have been up for a little while taking in the royal arrivals to westminster abbey and am very excited to start live blogging.  while exhausted, the monumental event is quickly waking me up!

how about that prince william? didn't he look dashing and beyond excited when entering westminster abbey?  and prince harry...love! he looks even more handsome (i didn't even know that was possible) in his uniform.

prince william arriving! picture via abc

and carol middleton looked like the picture perfect mother of the bride. stay tuned as we continue to live blog...right now i am going to check out prince charles and camilla entering westminster abbey!

5:48am: the queen is arriving! abc is telling touching stories about prince phillip, william's grandfather and the role he took after the death of princess diana...is 5:45 too early to start to tear up?

5:51: first kate middleton sighting!! love the dress already! i also love that even though this is a royal wedding it is very much a traditional family oriented wedding,  seeing kate drive to the wedding with her dad shows how close her family is.

5:52: kate middleton's dad is watching her transform from "his beautiful little girl, to the wife of a prince."  tear! i hope my dad feels like that on my wedding day (metaphorically speaking)!

5:55: kate is smiling, waving, looking calm.  i wonder how calm she feels inside.  i can't imagine what her thoughts are like right now...

5:58: could you imagine having so many people watch you on your wedding day?  i would be beyond nervous. sidenote - that tiara and hairstyle is p-e-r-f-e-c-t.  i bet she is laughing at everyone who called her waity katie now.

6:00: my friend heather just texted me "this is just like the real life princess diaries." true story, except i think kate is even prettier than anne hathaway if that is possible. although prince william is looking handsome, he is still no chris pine sadly.

6:00:  why do i have butterflies?!?

6:01: kate is walking into the abbey...LOVE LOVE LOVE

see you bright and early tomorrow, soo excited that i hope i can sleep tonight!!

what i lol'd about today

dear blank, please blank is one of my new favorite websites to visit.  if you're looking for a set of quick reads that are sure to make you laugh out loud (even at work, so be careful!), you've got to check it out.

the site was started (built and completely coded) by jared wunsch and hans johnson from seattle, washington and what you see is completely user-written and submitted (although they are moderated for obvious reasons).  if a submission is unique, free of spelling errors, and generally creative it should make it to the front page.  if not, don't worry, there's a separate page for all of the failed submissions, so you can still laugh along if you choose!  and if you're seriously up for procrastinating or avoiding your real job, you can help moderate the submissions with a simple click of "yes" or "no".

enjoy!

for the newest iphone

i woke up this morning to an email from apple announcing that the iphone 4 is now available in white.  thank you apple for providing one more reason as to why i should make every electronic i own an apple product.

a white iphone would be so pretty, especially if you have one of these cases from society 6 to help keep it white.  a brand new iphone + getting to carry a work of art around with you? that would be a serious upgrade from both my broken blackberry and it's blue case from five below.

a sweet idea: the postcup

image via designyoutrust.com
what a great gift idea!  the postcup is bailey doesn't bark's modern take on the postcard.  you use a special marker to personalize the mug, and then bake the mug in the oven to seal your message forever.  take note, mother's day is right around the corner...

22 things i will keep in mind going forward

jessy and i when we were mere 22 year olds...
there is a lot i should be doing right now and writing a blog is definitely not it, but i am putting everything on hold to write this one quick post. i am relatively young, naive, etc and that shows obviously when dating and while this definitely is not a relationship blog (check out LNFMBB if you want a fabulous dating/relationship blog), this link was too good to share. Ami Angelowicz put together her 22 tips that she wish she knew when she was 22 (okay i know 22 is way young compared to how old and wise i now am but still worth the read). while most of these tips are common sense, i would say that at least fifty percent of them are ones i need to practice going forward (one day, some day when i do date again, maybe)...such as numbers 2, 11, 12, 14, 15, 19, and MOST DEFINITELY 22 to just name a few...

i posted the entire list after the jump, but i highly recommend checking out the actual article and other posts on the frisky.

pretty easter eggs

when i was a kid, one of my favorite things to do in the spring was dye easter eggs. it was a chance to make a little bit of a mess and the end result was always incredible...the bright colors and uniqueness of the way each egg turned out. so imagine the horror when i saw these already dyed easter eggs in the grocery store! i mean, where's the fun in that?!

i apologize for the blurry image, it's my cell phone camera.

thankfully we don't have to resort to that at my house... my roommate bought us a dyeing kit from target that has sparkles you can add to the eggs - super cool! we never made it to the grocery store for eggs, but we will reschedule our dyeing party until after the holiday weekend (better late than never!).

so if you haven't yet dyed or decorated your easter eggs, take some time this weekend to enjoy this sweet pastime. here's some inspiration for you!

these are too pretty to eat!

these tie-dyed eggs are great! my favorite is the blue and green/yellow one on the right

these are more traditionally styled, but still very adorable. the zig-zag decorations remind me of an egg cracking open to hatch a little baby chick - so representative of spring!

street art

usually i am not a huge fan of graffiti...i remember the first time i went to rome i was amazed by how these centuries old buildings were covered with graffiti...and it wasn't even attractive, just random signatures.  it made me sad to see all of this amazing architecture ruined by silly hooligans.  however when i saw this artwork by OaKoAk, i knew this was some graffiti that i could get down with.  OaKoAk is a french artist who integrates his illustrations into street life to create amusing art for passerbys.

check out his blog for a look at all of his art, it is entertaining and i have a lot of respect for his ingenuity and wit.  but in the meantime, here are a few of my favorites!

#twittercrush

i have a confession...i officially have more twitter crushes than real life crushes.  these are people i follow who are witty, engaging and make me become more and more addicted to twitter daily.   check out a few of my current favorites below!  (i am not including my besties in this who would obviously be my #1 choices)

logan morrison @lomomarlins -- logan plays for the florida marlins, but has done the unthinkable and become a phillies fan favorite...so clearly i needed to check him out.  i can see why...he is SO funny and interacts all day long with his followers...maybe one day he will reply to me too.

richard blais @richardblais  -- top chef all stars champion, father of daughter riley, and my favorite celebrity chef ever (well tied with brian voltaggio).  he is great because he tweets about food all the time. and some times other things i love like lacrosse and traveling.  how can you not love richard blais?

do you have any twitter crushes?  i'd love to know if there is anyone else i should be following...clearly i need more distractions in life.

a quote for your thursday

i would not describe myself as a bird person...at all. in fact most of my friends would be able to tell you all about my fear of seagulls, it is almost as bad as jessy's cat fear.  but i have always had a soft-spot for hummingbirds.  i think this is because i used to love watching the hummingbirds at the bird feeder on my grandparents' farm. my grandfather would tell me all sorts of facts about how awesome these birds are and i would sit in awe as they fluttered about.  when i read this quote on style me pretty, i was instantly reminded of being back on my grandparent's farm.

“Legends say that hummingbirds float free of time, carrying our hopes for love, joy and celebration. Like a hummingbird, we aspire to hover and savor each moment as it passes, embrace all that life has to offer and to celebrate the joy of everyday. The hummingbird’s delicate grace reminds us that life is rich, beauty is everywhere, every personal connection has meaning and that laughter is life’s sweetest creation.”

it is so poetic and touching. and so i thought i would share with you for your thursday.  have a great day and be happy that friday is just around the corner :)

bag love

i am loving everything i find at clare vivier the cutest bag and accessories store where all the products are made in la!  love anything that is made in the usa :) i thought i would share a few of my favorites.

this pompom is so adorable, i just might have to get it.  Recycling a bag in my closet would be that much more exciting if i could jazz it up with this cutie.

this is a "shopping" tote and it is iridescent...two of my favorite things.  i think it's a sign.

last but not least, this wallet might need to be added to my collection.  you should definitely check out the different color combos, they had so many cute ones that it was hard to pick.

april showers...

we all know the saying "april showers bring may flowers", and today is quite an april shower kind of day in the delaware area. so if you're stuck inside today and looking to get your online shopping fix, here are some cute rain gear options to help you avoid getting soaked this spring.

powerball

by now i am sure you've heard that someone won the $222 million powerball last night. awesome for that person, but a total bummer for everyone else, right? clearly, because a lot of people had been twitter day dreaming about what they would do with the money... and now #ifihitthepowerball is a trending topic...

is this alanna in 70 years?

image via fitperez.com

92 year old gladys burrill is now the oldest person to ever complete a marathon. she completed the hawaii marathon in december, but was just recently confirmed by the guinness book of world records. get this - she was 86 in 2004 when she ran her first marathon.

i love this photo of her at the finish line because you can see how happy and fulfilled she is. how inspirational!

map prints

over the weekend jessy and i were walking down main street in our town and popped into a vintage goods store, i was immediately attracted to a pile of antique prints.  while looking through them, jessy commented on how i really like maps after i pointed out one i particularly liked.   i never really realized it before but it is true, i am a map-fanatic. and i did spell that with a ph- for the phillies before realizing my typo :)  i guess i have my mom to thank for this penchant because growing up she was always talking about how she loved antique maps (so thanks mom!!)

anyways when i was perusing etsy yesterday, I found the most adorable store that pairs two of my favorite things - maps and prints.  jason laferrera uses old maps to create these ridiculously awesome prints of animals.  i LOVE the bear one, but don't think i could justify spending that much money for a print right now.

wouldn't these look awesome in a family room or even in a nursery?  it could inspire your baby to love traveling at an early age!
